Akhil Gujarat Netrahin Jagrut Trust

Akhil Gujarat Netrahin Jagrut Trust is the only organization in the Gujarat State working for the education, employment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired. Its establishment was on 08/07/2011 to provide work to the visually impaired persons who are deprived of work according to their qualifications in the recognized fields under the Disability Act 1995/2016 as per the job identification determined under Section 32/33 of the Act. The trust was registered on 08/07/2013 as per the Bombay Public Trust Act and Society Registration Act. It’s headquarter is Bhavnagar but its scope of work is the entire state of Gujarat. The trust has filed a case in the Gujarat High Court as teaching assistants in the state's upper primary schools from 2011 to 2013 and has provided appointment letters as per the legal section of the Persons with Disability Act 34.

Under the aegis of Child Education and Women Empowerment, the Akhil Gujarat Netrahin Jagrut Trust, in the memory of the former trustee of the organization, Late Shri Neelaben Sonani, gives the 'Pragya Pratibha Award' to the best blind housewife in the state and the 'Neelaben Sonani Pratibha Award' to the girl and boy who got the first rank in Std. 5 to 8 of Tarsamiya Primary School.

In addition, to keep the service sector of the disabled active, various programs such as traveling for blind student, Samvedna Society, various seminars, musical programs, scholarships, medical assistance, house repair assistance for the visually impaired, distribution of equipment, distribution of food kits, training programs and various campaigns for the upliftment of the disabled are run by the Akhil Gujarat Netrahin Jagrut Trust.

Aims and Objectives of the Trust

  1. Guidance and legal advice on injustices faced by the blind and disabled.
  2. Will undertake public awareness campaigns for the implementation of the law for disabled persons.
  3. The organization will provide legal assistance to the blind or disabled person who has been wronged. If necessary, it will file a lawsuit from the local to the Supreme Court.
  4. Will organize programs related to public awareness in the interest of the disabled.
  5. Will organize seminars, conferences, work camps, etc. to train employees and workers working in the field of the blind and disabled.
  6. Will undertake research to prepare special devices for the blind. Also, it will take steps to make special devices, tools, and technology easily available to the blind in the country.
  7. The organization will establish infrastructure facilities to create all possible facilities for the noble purpose that the visually impaired person does not lag behind other people due to lack of vision.
  8. It will start and run hostels and institutions in remote areas to provide educational services to the visually impaired persons deprived of education or will assist other organizations for this.
  9. It will take special steps to ensure that the visually impaired and the disabled gain social, economic and political dignity and will formulate special programs for that.
